Select a minimum of 10 minutes of music, not to exceed 25 minutes.
One work must be originally composed for horn ensemble.
Group may select single movement(s) out of a multi-movement work.
Remaining program should be diverse and should highlight the Ensemble’s strengths.
Chosen repertoire should be performed one on a part, no doubled parts.
Chosen repertoire may include auxiliary players such as percussion or keyboard if originally written for the piece (no reductions). IHS54 WILL provide equipment for auxiliary players within accessible limits and reason. IHS54 WILL NOT provide players for auxiliary parts.
Competition Rules and Regulations
Horn Ensemble is defined as 6 or more players.
All Ensemble members must be 25 years of age or younger as of January 1, 2022.
All Ensemble members must be registered for the full week of IHS54.
Competition registration deadline is July 1, 2022.
Individual members are responsible for their own travel, room & board, IHS54 registration, etc.
One Ensemble member should be designated as the point person and should complete the registration form in the IHS54 Marketplace Store.
Chosen repertoire should be performed one on a part, no doubled parts.
Chosen repertoire may have a varietal number of parts, for example, an 8 horn piece followed by a 12 horn piece, as long as there is one person on a part.
The IHS54 Horn Ensemble Competition Committee has the right to cancel a winner at no cost to IHS54 if the winner fails to abide by all Competition Rules and Regulations.
Competition Judges reserve the right to not declare a winner.
Ensembles may perform with or without a conductor.
Winning Ensemble will perform at the Awards Concert on Saturday August 6, 2022.
