Youth Days at IHS54
Note the following important deadlines:
May Deadlines
- Pre-University Horn Ensemble performance - proposal deadline is May 1.
- Youth Day Solo Horn Competition - deadline May 31 for competition registration and submission of 1st round recordings.
June Deadlines
- Youth Days On-line Registration - deadline June 17 for Youth Days registration packages.
July Deadlines
- Pre-University Quartet Competition - competition registration deadline is July 1
Each year the Javelina Horn Studio at Texas A&M University sponsors the South Texas Horn Workshop. In lieu of our 2022 workshop, we will hold the same activities at Youth Days at HS54. Youth, ages 13-17, from around the world are welcome to participate in the entire week of IHS54, however special youth-oriented warmup sessions, presentations, masterclasses, and competitions will take place on Friday and Saturday, August 5-6, 2022, along with the other IHS54 events. Students and their teachers should expect to see two Featured Artist Concerts and get to participate in the Grand Finale Concert. Other highlights are:
- TMEA All-State Music Clinic (1A-6A)
- Youth Days Horn Solo Competition
- Quartet Competition - Pre-University Division
- Mass Horn Ensemble Performance
- Competition Winner Concert Performance
- Variety of Presentations on Horn Literature, Techniques, and College Prep
- Visit Exhibits—Nerd-out on everything Horn!
IHS54 Youth Days Registration is $100 per student and chaperone, either purchased online or onsite. Previous Youth Days packages are no longer available. Purchase includes entry to all events on August 5-6.
No Registration Refunds after July 1 unless cancellation is due to catastrophic event and not COVID-related
Youth Days Dorm accommodations (Turner Hall) are available for purchase until July 20, 2022 on the IHS54 Marketplace Store. No linens (sheets, towels, blanket, pillow) provided. All student participants must be chaperoned while in the dorm and at the symposium events. IHS54 is not responsible for supervision of student participants. Chaperones and students pay the same registration ($100/pp) and dorm fees ($30/pp/night). On-campus meals are purchased separately.
