Ricardo Matosinhos studied with professor Ivan Kučera at the Esproarte and with Bohdan Šebestík at the Superior School of Music and Performing Arts in Portugal. He was recipient of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation scholarship and recognized as Student of the Year 2003-2004. In 2012 he received his master degree from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and in 2021 his doctorate degree from the University of Évora.
Curiosity about horn in jazz led to lessons with saxophonist Mário Santos and has influenced his compositional style ever since. His works have been recognized in several composition contests both in Portugal and abroad and he has written teaching materials for a variety of instruments.
Ricardo has taught masterclasses and workshops all over Europe and has performed as guest with the Filarmonia das Beiras Orchestra, Musicare Chamber Orchestra, Orquestra do Norte, Remix Orchestra, and the Remix Ensemble and Orquestra Nacional do Porto.Ricardo is currently teaching at the Academia de Música de Costa Cabral in Oporto.He is a member of the International Horn Society, the SPA and the GDA.
